Ι. Ναός Κοιμήσεως της Θεοτόκου, Προσύμνη

The Byzantine church of the Dormition of the Virgin is located in the village of Prosymni (formerly Chonika or Neo Heraion) in Argolis and constitutes one of the most significant Byzantine monuments of the region. It is dated to the 12th century AD, corresponding to the Middle Byzantine period, and belongs to the architectural type of the complex cross-in-square church with dome, supported by four columns.

The church is distinguished by its carefully executed masonry, following the Middle Byzantine cloisonné system, as well as by its rich ceramic decorative program on the exterior façades. Despite later interventions and reconstructions, the monument preserves significant elements of Byzantine architecture and reflects the religious and artistic flourishing of Argolis during the Middle Byzantine period.
